Multimedia Filters
Multimedia filtration uses layers of selected media to capture suspended material through the depth of the bed. It is used in pretreatment where particle loading would otherwise shorten downstream filter or membrane service life.
Selection and operation
A suitable design considers the raw-water quality, service rate and the backwash needed to clean the bed. Media selection and underdrain distribution matter as much as vessel size. Treated-water quality should be monitored against the needs of the next process stage.
