Automatic Backwash Filters
Automatic backwashing uses a valve or control sequence to clean a filter without manually performing every operating step. It can help maintain a filtration process when correctly configured for the source-water loading.
Selection and operation
Backwashing still requires adequate water supply, drainage and periodic inspection. A timer or differential-pressure trigger must be set for the application. Automation does not eliminate the need to check treated-water quality, valve operation and media condition.
What to check before selecting a system
- Select a cleaning trigger suited to changing solids loads.
- Check the available backwash pressure and flow.
- Plan operation during cleaning or provide redundancy.
